Trip to Athens, Greece
This was written one year ago when I went to Athens, Greece for the fourth time
- Accomodation: There is a nice hostel called Fivos next to Monastiraki metro station in Plaka. Nice rooms, friendly atmosphere, great breakfast and excellent location.
- Nice place for having dinner: Taverna Kritikoy, Mnissikleous near the acropolis. You can reach it from Monastiraki taking Ermou towards Kapnikarea, then you turn on your right in the street that starts in Kapnikarea, then first on your left and then first on your right. To know that you are in the right way, you can check that you pass next to the back entrance of a restaurant that looks expensive and is called Hermion. If you are still not lost, you have to keep going uphill towards the acropolis and you will find the restaurant on your right. The place was great for having dinner, and it was not the typical touristic place as it was crowded with Greeks. In the middle of the restaurant there is a scene with live music and soon you will find yourself joining the greeks between the servings for dancing and singing
All in all, a recommended place out of the touristic tours that allows a total immersion in this greek way of life.
- Pita-Gyros: In my opinion it is a must to try this food at least once in Athens
For me it was the main source of food as it fills you and it is cheap. A place I adored can be reached from Monastiraki taking the parallel street to Ermou and in the second corner on your left there is a shop with gyros for 1.50€.
Another entry will follow soon with information of the sights of Athens and its surroundings that I’ve liked the most
