Trip to Cantabria, Spain
This weekend I have been in Cantabria, a region in northern Spain and have visited two very nice places:
- Comillas.
It is a coastal city with some impressive sights also:El Capricho de Gaudi, El palacio de Sobrellano and the University. All worth a walk
While you are at it, you can get some spectacular views of the cliffs and the sea walking from the cemetery with the fallen angel towards the sea.a little camping next to the sea.
For staying I always go to a quiet camping next to the sea (Try to avoid the period of the festivities of the city, mid july, as the camping is full of crazy people that leave a huge mess on the whole terrain). The best thing of the camping is its private beach. On Saturday morning there were 5 of us in the private beach while the public beach was really too crowded to enjoy the day.
- El Soplao Cave which has a very impressive collection of formations. In the following pictures you can see some of them. For the ones that don’t know it, the pictures are of rock that is formed by deposition of calcium carbonate - CaCO3 that was transported by the water that got filtered through the soil. Even if it looks like ice, keep in mind that it is a rock and you will understand why they are so wonderful!

The normal visit lasts for one hour and you can see in a guided tour some quite impressive things. After the visit we discovered that there is the possibility to do an extended 2 hour visit though less visited parts of the cave. I think we will go for it quite soon!
